Transformation of the old commercial building on Avinguda Diagonal (SEARS, Galerías Preciados, El Corte Inglés, …). Built in the 1950s, with a metal structure and an American vision, which as of today, makes it relevant in the structural framework.

Based on a particular and interesting geometry, on a façade perimeter with great potential, on the search for exterior spaces, on reinterpreting the line of argument set by MBM in the last intervention and with a clear desire to connect and integrate into the surroundings, we have faced this challenge.

We opened up the entire façade, providing transparency and luminosity. We incorporated terraces on the first, fifth and attic floors. As for the levels and relationship with the surroundings, the building is adapted to be flat (level) all around its perimeter. The horizontal line is strengthened, based on louvers and overhangs that not only provide shade and protection from the rain, but also but also break up the flatness of the building. The volumetry plays with the empty and the full and also with some changes of direction. The colour white marks chromatics, differentiating it from the rest of the neighbouring buildings and whose organic geometry subtly adapts to the different streets, passages and and adjoining spaces.

This architectural renovation exemplifies how contemporary architecture can fuse design with innovation, creating iconic buildings that blend harmoniously into their urban environment.

Committed to creating sustainable architecture and the well-being of people, this office building is LEED Platinum, WiredScore and WELL certified.
