Architectural renovation and transformation of an industrial site located in the western part of Poblenou. The complex, initially made up of a group of five warehouses, which were enlarged over time, has a gable roof with metal or wooden trusses and joist and vault slabs. The façades are very simple and the only significant element is the semicircular crown. It is worth noting the inscription on the façade of the chamfered bay: La Siberia S.A. Fábrica de Hielo. Founded in 1910.
Siberia is part of the catalogue of industrial buildings of the Historical and Artistic Architectural Heritage of Poblenou in Barcelona. It is an enclosure completely filled in by the main building and the warehouses. The transformation project proposes to organise the dwellings (lofts) around a central courtyard. The different typologies of the structure, metal or wooden trusses and vaults (refurbished or restored) provide a range of solutions aimed at showing these differences and enriching the whole. It is worth highlighting the research into open spaces complementary to the dwellings with different qualities.
The building has obtained the BREEAM seal for sustainable construction, reaffirming the commitment to the preservation of the environment and the development of responsible architecture.
