Via Augusta

Transformation of an educational building (IEN building), designed by the architect Bosch i Aymerich, into a coworking type office building.

Although it is not wholly apparent in the result, the structural work required has determined quite significant deadlines and costs, a fact which, added to the low height between floors, has complicated the project.

Apart from the distribution of a very specific and somewhat restrictive functional programme, the main task has focused on how to resolve the two façades: regarding the Via Augusta, maintaining the essence of the original, a single colour has been proposed to enhance its geometry and transparency. The use of the neutral grey colour that we also have in its interior has improved the whole.

On the other hand, the rear façade (in the courtyard, with significant sunlight) has been configured with solar panels on the entire blind part. A large terrace in the interior space of the island complements the enclosed spaces.
