Pere Quart

The object of the project is the 22@ building of the Special Plan of Interior Reform between C/ Pere IV / C/ Roc Boronat / C/ Pallars / C/ Ciudad de Granada in Poblenou, Barcelona.

The building is divided into two clearly differentiated parts, both in terms of geometry (one has 3 floors and the other 4) and façade treatment, which is resolved according to the orientation of each one and while clearly differentiating one building from the other: the 4-storey building is designed as a transparent parallelepiped shape covered by a matt screen that is torn horizontally on the façades on C/ Pere IV and C/ Roc Boronat.

In massing terms, the aim is to integrate the existing building as much as possible with the island of houses and for this reason, a step is created in the visible part of the party wall. The 3-storey building is practically opaque on the façade on C/ Roc Boronat and transparent on the inside of the island. Both buildings have a transparent ground floor separated by a passage that connects C/ Roc Boronat with the interior of the island.
